Both of these books have been translated in recent years into Spanish for your Hispanic families. The Light of Christ is available for all Catholic Tiger or Wolf Cubs. All requirements must be completed prior to entry into third grade. The Parvuli Dei Religious Emblem is available for all Catholic Bear and Webelos Scouts in third grade and above. Requirements must be completed prior to entry into Boy Scouts. These emblems may be earned and presented at any time during the year. Books for the Light of Christ Emblem and the Parvuli Dei Emblem may be purchased at your local SCOUT SHOP or from the Catholic Scouting Office. (516) 678-5800, ext. 245. Scouts
planning to receive the Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius XII Religious
Emblems at the 2015 Boy Scout Convocation should begin their work as
soon as possible for completion by April 30, 2015. As soon as
possible have the Scouts fill out the appropriate Pre-Registration
Form. These electronic forms will be sent to Diocesan Catholic
Committee
and Austin Cannon. At the completion of the program, books
are to
be sent to Austin Cannon at the Scouting Office. Scouts must make
every attempt to present themselves at the Board of Review that is
normally scheduled for mid-May of each year. Please contact any
member of the Catholic Committee on Scouting in each Council for
advice and support. Candidates for the Ad Altare Dei Emblem MUST HAVE COMPLETED the SIXTH grade and be active in their troop for six months before beginning this program. Female members of a Venturing Crew may also earn the Ad Altare Dei Religious Emblem. The Religious Emblem may be earned up to the Scout or Venturer's 18th birthay. Candidates for the Pope Pius XII Emblem MUST HAVE BEGUN NINTH grade to begin work on the program. Female members of a Venture Crew may earn the Pope Pius XII Emblem. Catholic Scouts are encouraged to participate in the Religious Emblem programs
of the Catholic Committee on Scouting. Learning about God and
self is the prime purpose of these programs. In a case where a
youth finds it difficult to complete certain requirements, alternate
methods and requirements are available. Please call the Catholic
Scouting Office for information.

Boy Scout Religious Emblem Training | ||
The
Diocese of Rockville Centre requires that Ad Altare Dei Counselors and
Pope Pius XII Facilitators be trained by the Catholic Committee.
Training will be offered throughout the year by each local area council CCOS committee.
Please contact the Catholic Scouting Office to register or for other

Eagle Scout Letter | ||
The
Most Rev. William F. Murphy, Bishop of Rockville Centre, is pleased to
send a letter of congratulations to all Catholic Scouts upon their
reception of Eagle Scout Rank. The Catholic Committee also presents a
certificate and special patch to Eagle recipients. Court of Honor
Chairs are asked to send a letter indicating the scout’s name, unit
number, presentation date, location and parish of the recipient to: Catholic Scouting Office P.O. Box 9023 Rockville Centre, NY 11571-9023 Attn: Austin Cannon or scouting@drvc.org. Please send requests at least four weeks in advance. | ||
